Good questions, straight answers

Booking, warranty and getting paid

Nothing's broken right now, but I'd like something looked at soon. How far ahead should I book?

There's no strict rule, though booking earlier gives you more choice over timing. A genuinely urgent issue bypasses any waiting list entirely and gets a plumber out that same day, however full the diary looks.

Say a repair fails again well after the invoice was paid. What actually happens then?

You call exactly as you would for any new job, and our Lifetime Labour Warranty stands behind that original work indefinitely, so a genuine defect gets corrected properly without a fresh invoice landing on you.

How do I actually pay once the work is finished, and is it due straight away?

Card, cash or a payment plan, whichever suits, and because the number was agreed in writing before anything started, settling up on the day is just confirming the price you already signed off on.

I manage this property rather than own it. Can a job still proceed through me?

Yes, provided the owner signs off on anything beyond a straightforward like-for-like fix, and we're used to dealing directly with property managers on the quote and the paperwork.

Does the Lifetime Labour Warranty cover parts as well, or only the work itself?

Only the labour side. Workmanship itself is guaranteed for life under that warranty, while anything installed follows its own manufacturer's separate warranty terms instead.

Once the work starts

If the plumber uncovers a second issue partway through, does the price just quietly grow?

Never automatically. Work stops, you're told exactly what's been found, and that second issue gets its own separate quote, so nothing gets added to the job without your agreement first.

There's been a sudden, unexplained spike in our water usage. Is a hidden leak the likely cause?

Often, yes. Moisture trapped under a slab or behind tiled walls rarely announces itself early, so a usage spike with nothing visible anywhere is treated as a strong prompt to run a proper test.

Does plumbing work on an older beach house ever need council sign-off first?

Swapping an existing fixture for an equivalent one generally doesn't need approval, though a larger drainage relocation or structural change sometimes will, and we'll say so plainly before any quote gets written up.

What's actually useful to have sorted before the plumber turns up?

Having the work area reachable makes the biggest difference, and it helps if you know roughly where the meter and main shutoff are, though if you don't, simply describing the problem is enough for us to work it out.

Nobody's home during the day here. Does exterior or garden plumbing work still get done?

Usually, since most work outside the house only needs an unobstructed path to reach it, not somebody supervising. On the odd occasion access inside genuinely matters, we'll phone ahead first.

Questions we hear from around Palm Beach

We're restoring an old weekender near the lighthouse walking track, aiming for a proper multi-bathroom fit-out. Does a job that size get handled differently to a normal repair?

Mainly in the planning. A restoration adding several bathrooms needs the rough-in mapped out properly from day one, so it's scoped as its own project with its own written price rather than treated as an add-on.

The block backs onto bush near the headland reserve. Does that change what gets fitted outdoors?

It can, fittings that close to a bush boundary need to hold up to both salt drift and bushfire-zone expectations, so what goes outdoors here is chosen with both of those in mind rather than just one.

Our summer house has had odd bits replaced over the years but never a full re-pipe. Is doing it in stages a sensible option instead of one big job?

Very sensible, and often the better route. Replacing the worst-affected sections first while leaving sound pipework alone spreads the cost out instead of forcing everything into one large project before it's strictly necessary.

The Boathouse and a few other places near the wharf get packed over summer. Does commercial plumbing around there get treated differently to a house call?

Mostly in scale, not approach. A busy kitchen sees heavier daily use than a home's does, so fixtures and backflow prevention get sized to suit, though the pricing and warranty work exactly the same way.

Still got a question?

Call (02) 9072 0511 and take it up with a real licensed plumber, skip the contact form and the hold music entirely. The visit costs $0, every price is confirmed in writing before work begins, and the job carries our Lifetime Labour Warranty.
